Batteries

With all the electrical systems present in today’s high-tech automobiles, the role of the battery has taken on new significance.  Your vehicle’s battery not only works to start the engine, it also has to power a wide assortment of electrical items, and do so under a broad range of environmental conditions, from humid, hot summer temperatures to below freezing winter days.  As a result, even with today’s “maintenance free” batteries, it is still important to inspect and clean them on a regular basis to ensure proper performance.

Batteries are rated in cold cranking amps (CCA).  This is the amount of current a battery can produce for 30 seconds at 0o F.  As part of our courtesy check, your Maine Auto Service technician will complete an electrical system check and record your battery’s CCA rating.  He will then compare this with the specification for your vehicle and, based on this, make a recommendation for service, if necessary.
